A Career in the Past

I have worked in Higher Education in the UK for more than ten years. Currently, I hold the position of Lecturer in Global History (500-1500 CE) at the University of Leeds. Prior to that, I had the privilege of working as Senior Lecturer in Medieval History at Birkbeck, University of London (2015-2020). Before this, I worked at King’s College and the Warburg Institute, London, and the University of Birmingham.

In this part of my website you can find out more about my education, my teaching experience and qualifications and projects which I have helped to design, lead and support. My experiences in Higher Education, as both student and teacher, have taught me that having the skills to see the present through the lens of the past can transform lives.

“Rebecca’s pedagogical and research instincts are to open out, extend and experiment – and this has made her an inspirational teacher and colleague.”

Prof. Matt Cook (Birkbeck, University of London)
